How This Shoe Compares

Compared to Altra Lone Peak 7

The Altra Lone Peak 7 offers a lower profile and is more suited for runners who prioritize agility and a lighter feel on the trail, whereas the Olympus 7 Mid GTX provides more cushioning and waterproof protection for extended outings in varied conditions.

Compared to Hoka Speedgoat 5 Mid GTX

The Hoka Speedgoat 5 Mid GTX also offers a mid-cut design and waterproof protection, but with a more cushioned ride and slightly higher heel stack, appealing to those who prefer a softer landing and additional underfoot comfort.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Olympus 7 Mid GTX suitable for hiking in snow?
Yes, the GORE-TEX waterproof protection makes it suitable for hiking in wet and snowy conditions, providing both dryness and traction.
How does the fit of the Olympus 7 Mid GTX compare to other Altra models?
The Olympus 7 Mid GTX maintains Altra’s signature roomy toe box, but the mid-height and waterproof upper may feel more structured compared to lower-cut models like the Lone Peak.
Can I use the Olympus 7 Mid GTX for daily running?
While it's designed for trail running and hiking, it can be used for daily running if you're comfortable with its weight and prefer a max-cushion, protective shoe.
